Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomasz Tatarata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Garth Fourie! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fourie gets a double leg takedown into Tatarata's guard. Fourie trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tatarata's guard. Tatarata escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fourie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Tatarata has an active guard here but Fourie has managed to pass into half guard.
Fourie is looking for a kimura here.
Tatarata looking for submissions off his back. Fourie not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fourie moves into full mount! Tatarata won't be happy about that! Tatarata is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tatarata sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Tatarata actively working from the bottom here. Tatarata is breathing heavily. Tatarata looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Fourie missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Fourie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tatarata keeps working. Fourie stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Tatarata to get to his feet. Fourie tries a head kick but it misses.
Fourie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Tatarata counters with a shoot takedown. Fourie fights it but they end up in guard. Fourie keeping full guard, as Tatarata tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fourie is looking to stand up but Tatarata isn't so interested in that idea. Tatarata has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Fourie has his foot on Tatarata's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tatarata works his way back into a safe position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Garth Fourie hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Tatarata shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Fourie trying to hold on to Tatarata's head to control him but Tatarata postures up.

Tatarata has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fourie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Fourie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fourie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tatarata counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fourie trying to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fourie pulls Tatarata in close to his closed guard and prevents Tatarata from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Garth Fourie wasn't active enough on the ground. Tatarata shoots and misses and Fourie counters with an inside leg kick. Fourie feints and as Tatarata raises his hands in defense, Fourie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Fourie scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Fourie engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Fourie wants to get up but he can't break Tatarata's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Fourie trying to control but Tatarata is working from the bottom. Fourie gets to his feet - Tatarata follows without any prompting.

Fourie controls Tatarata momentarily but Tatarata frees himself. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's going to take a lot out of Garth Fourie.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tatarata can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Tomasz Tatarata dominated that second round. That's time! Tatarata's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Fourie throws a lazy head kick and Tatarata counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fourie won't be happy with that. Fourie can't do much from the bottom here. Fourie sneaks back into half guard. Fourie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fourie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fourie.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Tatarata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fourie swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tatarata is working hard here to advance position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Fourie moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fourie shoots in looking for a takedown. Tatarata tries to sprawl out of it but Fourie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tatarata manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fourie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tatarata counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fourie! Fourie regains half guard. Fourie tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Tatarata has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
