The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gugenishvili changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ali tries to avoid it but Gugenishvili manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ali to the ground. Ali escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gugenishvili throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ali counters with a stiff right hand.
Gugenishvili shoots in for a takedown but Ali shows good takedown defense.
Ali connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gugenishvili's hands.
Gugenishvili takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ali connects with a looping right hand.
Gugenishvili throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ali counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gugenishvili swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ali counters with a nice body shot.
Gugenishvili tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ali sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gugenishvili somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guram Gugenishvili. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
