The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barry is defended easily by Wallace.
Wallace throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barry was covering up waiting for the punch and Wallace finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Barry is working an open guard so Wallace takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Barry is breathing heavily.
Barry stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barry wants it to stay on the feet.
Wallace fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wallace fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barry avoids it really well and circles away.

Wallace postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wallace decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Wallace cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Wallace throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Barry tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wallace is in Barry's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wallace takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Wallace shoots in looking for a takedown. Barry tries to sprawl out of it but Wallace keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jigaboo Wallace showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Wallace is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Barry counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Barry.
