The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saku slips under a jab.
Saku tries to clinch but William moves away

and William counters by moving into the clinch.
William lands a right hand.
Saku is trying to break the clinch but William is controlling him.

William misses with a hook to the ribs.
Saku tries to break free but William pushes him back against the cage.

Saku tries to circle away but William has him pinned against the cage.
Saku wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
William keeps control of Saku as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
William cracks Saku with a nice body shot.

William is trying to trip Saku. He has hold of a leg but Saku is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. William persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

William drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Saku manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now William has Saku in his guard.

William has his foot on Saku's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Saku works his way back into a safe position though.
William is breathing heavily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
William has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Saku throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saku would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Saku won't allow William to sweep him here.
Saku postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Saku wants to stand but William has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
