Crown has chosen Eminence Front as his entrance music. Bobby Crown has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Johnny Maris's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Maris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Crown!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crown rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Maris counters with a single leg into guard. Crown didn't expect that.
Maris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Maris postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Crown is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maris, into his guard.
Crownis looking to pass into half guard but Maris pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Maris is in guard.

Maris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Crown bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maris's guard.
Crown tries to free his leg and advance position but Maris is retaining full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Johnny Maris wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Crown lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maris circles away quickly and effectively.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crown tries to roll over but Maris keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Crown is looking for a sweep. Maris is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Crown swings away with a body shot that misses

and Maris counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Maris not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Maris wants to pass the guard but Crown is keeping the position.

Crown misses with a head shot. Maris uses the momentum to regain guard.
Crown postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnny Maris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Maris kicks Crown off and gets to his feet.
Crown throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Maris counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Crown tries to roll over but Maris keeps him under control.
Crown is trying to stand up here but Maris is controlling him well.
Crown is refusing to be controlled, as Maris sits in half guard.

Maris is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Crown is trying to get back to full guard.
Maris is looking to take a break and control but Crown is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Crown is defending against the submission attempts here by Maris.

Maris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Crown is just riding it out for now. Maris eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Crown is trying to stand back up but Maris is controlling him

Maris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crown keeps working.

Maris bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Maris tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maris has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Maris is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Crown will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Maris goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Crown has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Maris but great work by Crown.
Maris can't do much from the bottom here.
Crown throwing strikes but Maris manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Bobby Crown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Maris looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Maris wants to take a breather but Crown is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Maris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
