Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry David! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Peterson! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! David looks to land a body kick but Peterson moved away. David throws a leg kick and Peterson counters with a nice body shot. Nice defenses there by Peterson. David throws a nice looking combination but Peterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. David throws a lazy uppercut
and Peterson counters with a straight right hand. David drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. David misses with a shot to the body and Peterson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. A lazy body kick from David and Peterson counters with a straight right hand. David misses with a leg kick and Peterson counters with a nice body shot. Peterson stuns David with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. David pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. No joy there for Peterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
David throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson throws a body punch but David moves out of range. Peterson avoids a low kick by using good footwork. David misses the body punch and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A head kick by David misses and Peterson counters with a flying knee. Nice. David lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. David keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Peterson darts in and out, connecting with a jab. David's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Peterson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! David scrambles back to his feet. David misses with a shot to the body and Peterson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A low kick from David misses and Peterson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Peterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and David counters with a three punch combo that has Peterson backing up. Peterson nods at David to acknowledge the strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! David defending well as Peterson loads up on a big left hand. David is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
David's corner calls for a 1-2. David obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Peterson misses the body punch and David counters with a leg kick. Peterson connects with the punch. Peterson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. David throws a nice looking combination but Peterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Peterson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. David misses with a right hand enabling Peterson to counter with a crisp jab. Peterson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! David had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson circles away from the clinch attempt and Peterson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Peterson scores with a hook to the body. David takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. David swinging wildly here.
David misses with a double jab
enabling Peterson to counter with a crisp jab. The fighters circling - Peterson throws out the jab but it was never going to land. David misses with a leg kick and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. David misses with a low kick. David uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Peterson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. David motions for Peterson to come forward. David throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. David misses with a double jab
letting Peterson counter with a right hand. David wants to clinch and Peterson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. David misses with a combination
and Peterson counters with a left to the body. David throws a leg kick that is checked and Peterson counters with a straight right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A head kick by David misses enabling Peterson to counter with a crisp jab. Peterson misses with a wild body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David moves to clinch but Peterson breaks away and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. David is looking to wear down Peterson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. David throws a sloppy body shot
and Peterson counters with a nice body shot. David misses with a right hand and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A low kick from David misses and Peterson counters with a left to the body. David looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. David looks to land a right hand but Peterson moved out of range. David misses with a body punch
and Peterson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. David throws a lazy head kick and Peterson counters with an outside leg kick.
Larry David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A head kick by David misses and Peterson counters with a stiff right hand. Peterson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and David has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. David throws a lazy body kick and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Peterson looks to score with a jab to the body but David is just out of range. David throws a head kick that misses and Peterson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. David thows a leg kick but Peterson checks it and Peterson counters with a stiff right hand. Peterson scores with a decent looking hook. Peterson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Larry David is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Peterson darts in and clinches David up against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Peterson. David misses with the head strike.
David throws a punch but it's blocked by Peterson. David tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Peterson prevents a body shot from David. David tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Peterson. David looking to stall.
Peterson lands a hook that snaps the head of David backwards.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A body shot lands from Peterson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Peterson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Peterson pushes David back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Peterson softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
David is rocked! Peterson lands with a right to the head. Oh David is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Peterson lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops David to his knees! Peterson keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
