The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slide tries to clinch there but Esperanza circles away.
Slide lands a slapping body shot.
Esperanza tries to clinch up
and Slide holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Slide stops a takedown attempt from Esperanza.
Esperanza trying to stall but Slide improves his position.
Slide gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Slide wants to stand but Esperanza has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Esperanza trying to control but Slide postures up.
Esperanza regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slide working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Esperanza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Slide wants to stand but Esperanza is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slide stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Esperanza has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Slide manages to get his head free but now Esperanza has transitioned to an armbar! Slide grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Esperanza! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
