The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez needs to keep his hands up - Doe had a free shot at his head there.

Doe clinches.
Doe misses with a knee strike.
Doe missing with knees to the body.
Fernandez is trying to break the clinch but Doe is controlling him.
Fernandez lands a left hand that snaps the head of Doe backwards.
Fernandez wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fernandez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Doe just stands there and leans against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Fernandez.

It looks like John Doe has been cut.
Doe connects with a knee to the head.
Fernandez is trying to push Doe away but Doe has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Doe tries to land a knee to the head but Fernandez blocks with his arms.
Doe lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Fernandez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fernandez fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Doe on the side of the head.

Doe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fernandez.
Fernandez looks to land a right hand but Doe moved out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Fernandez. That snapped Doe's head back.

Fernandez tries a head kick but it misses.
Doe seems to have recovered his senses.
Fernandez takes a swing at Doe's ribcage but misses.

Fernandez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fernandez scores with a nice right hand.
A decent looking cross lands there for Fernandez.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jason Fernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doe steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Fernandez. That one must have hurt.

Fernandez pounces like a tiger and cracks Doe with a vicious hook! Doe is down but not out! Fernandez follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
