Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nico Parcon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Nico Parcon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nico Parcon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, George Penn!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parcon throws a left and a right that both miss

and Penn counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Parcon is concentrating on defense, preventing Penn from advancing position.
Penn thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Parcon to regain full guard.
Penn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Parcon preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Penn would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Penn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Parcon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Parcon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Penn trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Parcon manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Parcon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Penn looking for a guillotine here but Parcon defends easily.
Parcon postures up in Penn's guard and throws a big left but Penn blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parcon sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Penn's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Penn makes his way to full guard, as Parcon worked for a kimura.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parcon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Penn's head.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Parcon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Parcon has Penn in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn with a flurry of punches that miss.
Penn postures up in Parcon's guard and throws a big left but Parcon blocks it.
Penn trying to stand up but can't free himself from Parcon's guard.
Penn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Parcon wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parcon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Parcon pulls Penn in close to prevent any damage.

Nico Parcon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Parcon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Penn fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Parcon.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parcon looks to score with a jab to the body but Penn is just out of range.
Parcon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Penn eats them both and turns towards Parcon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parcon lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Penn at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nico Parcon will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Penn throws a nice looking combination but Parcon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nice takedown defense from Parcon. No joy for Penn on that attempt.

It looks like George Penn has been cut.
Penn moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Penn gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Penn avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Parcon jabs at Penn's body.
Penn is breathing heavily.
Parcon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nico Parcon is winning the standup battle so far.

Parcon gets in close and tags Penn with a short punch that almost sends Penn to the mat! Oh Penn is in big trouble! He turns his back on Parcon, trying to create some distance but Parcon rushes him, striking wildly and Penn goes down! The referee tackles Parcon into the cage to end the fight! Parcon is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nico Parcon!
