Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Clapper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Capone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Capone will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rusty Clapper!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Al Capone!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clapper tries to clinch up but Capone circles away and keeps his distance.

Clapper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Clapper is working for a kimura but Capone is defending it quite comfortably.
Clapper is keen to just control but Capone is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Capone is looking for a sweep. Clapper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Capone is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Clapper asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Clapper tries to move to mount but Capone blocks the move with his legs.

Clapper goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Capone rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Clapper's guard! Nice work there by Capone!

Capone's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Clapper is just content to waste time from the top position. Capone takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clapper pushes down on Capone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Clapper wants to control but Capone is keeping him busy.
Clapper is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Capone is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Rusty Clapper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Capone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Capone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Capone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Clapper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Capone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Capone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Capone postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Clapper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Capone, into his guard.

Capone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Clapper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Capone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clapper defends it easily.
Clapper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Capone works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Clapper pushes down on Capone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Clapper works his foot free and advances to mount.

Capone is bucking up trying to escape but Clapper cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Clapper lands a big shot there that rocks Capone but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Clapper shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Clapper was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Clapper thows a huge punch but Capone dodges it nicely.

Clapper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Capone connects with a crisp jab.
Capone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Capone looks to land a combination but Clapper avoids it well.

Clapper shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Capone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Capone is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rusty Clapper just wasn't active enough.
Capone stalks Clapper and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Clapper's face. Clapper staggers backwards, shaken.
Capone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Clapper moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rusty Clapper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Clapper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clapper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Al Capone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Capone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Clapper's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Capone isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Clapper stacks Capone on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Clapper!

Clapper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Capone is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
