Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Junior Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Diego Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Castro moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Castro drives through with a takedown into guard. Castro wanted to stand there but Sanchez had control of the position. Sanchez throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Castro wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. Castro wants to stand but Sanchez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Sanchez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Junior Castro. Castro is looking to clinch but Sanchez is avoiding it.

Junior Castro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Castro checks a low kick from Sanchez. Sanchez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sanchez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sanchez misses with a jab, cross combination.

Castro shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sanchez's guard. Sanchez is controlling Castro's posture. Castro stands up and waves to Sanchez to follow him. Castro avoids the head kick by Sanchez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castro shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Castro showed some decent athleticism there. Castro is looking to advance position but Sanchez won't allow it. Castro tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Sanchez. Castro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working. That's four minutes gone in the round. Castro slows the pace down in half guard. Sanchez regains full guard. Nicely done. Castro has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from. Sanchez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Castro postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Castro shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sanchez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Castro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Castro wriggles free and stands up. Diego Sanchez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sanchez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Junior Castro. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Castro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
