Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Baran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baran comes to the cage accompanied by Beach Boys - Barbara Ann . James Ennis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Baran! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Ennis! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danga de danga de dang - Baran scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like James Ennis has been cut. Ennis blocks a jab. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Baran moves away from the strike by Ennis. Baran misses with a head kick.
Baran keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ennis moves out of range as Baran throws a body kick.
Ennis checks a low kick from Baran. Ennis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Baran lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Ennis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Baran's waist but Baran gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ennis off to one side. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Baran will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ennis misses with a wild body shot. Ennis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Baran dips to his left and cracks Ennis with an uppercut! Ennis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Baran sprawls well. Baran wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ennis gets slowly back to his feet. Baran connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Ennis slips under a jab from Baran.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baran thumps Ennis with a low kick. Baran pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Ennis throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Baran fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Bob Baran is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ennis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Baran. Ennis shoots for a double leg takedown but Baran sprawls well. He's pushed Ennis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bob Baran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Ennis. Good standup being displayed there by Baran as he connects with a hook. Baran scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ennis doesn't seem bothered though. Baran misses with a looping left. A big left from Baran misses. Ennis avoids the body shot from Baran.
Ennis shoots in and drives through. Baran sprawls well. Baran throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Ennis looks gassed! Baran fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ennis manages to avoid it. Baran lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Baran throws an overhand right that lands on Ennis's shoulder, as Ennis tries to avoid the shot. Ennis slips a straight right by Baran.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baran scores with a nice right hand.
Baran takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Baran scores with a nice right hand.
Baran connects with a single shot there. Baran digs a good body shot into Ennis's ribs. Ennis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Baran. Ennis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Ennis is trying desperately to land a takedown but Baran is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ennis. A decent looking cross lands there for Baran. Baran throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Ennis counter with a right hand. Ennis lands a jab. Baran connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Baran.
Baran misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ennis takes one on the button. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ennis is defended easily by Baran. Baran lands a nice shot that snaps Ennis's head back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Baran. No joy for Ennis on that attempt. Ennis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Baran.
Baran lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Baran swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ennis is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Baran rather than just go for the knockout. Baran throws a head kick but Ennis moves out of range.
Baran throws a sloppy head kick and Ennis moves out of range easily. Ennis takes a swing at Baran's ribcage but misses. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ennis, as that shot connected.
Ennis fails to land the takedown. Baran connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Baran thuds his right hand into Ennis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Baran misses the shot to the body. Ennis takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Baran is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ennis looks to land a right hand but Baran moved out of range. Baran loads up on a big right hand but Ennis slips the punch. Baran missing with a left hand there. Ennis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Baran connects with a nice looking jab.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ennis tries to move into range but Baran moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Baran tries a head kick but it misses.
Ennis misses with a hook. Ennis throws a series of punches but Baran moves out of range. Ennis needs to keep his hands up - Baran had a free shot at his head there. Ennis takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ennis on the wrong end of a nice jab. Ennis fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ennis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Baran. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ennis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Baran connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ennis scrambles back to his feet. Baran scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ennis doesn't seem bothered though. Baran scores with a three punch combo!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Baran dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Ennis's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ennis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ennis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Baran manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Baran not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ennis throwing strikes but missing. Ennis looking to pass the guard. Ennis landing with the ground and pound. Ennis wants to control from the top but Baran keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baran is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ennis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Baran manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ennis manages to get himself to full guard.
Ennis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Baran working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ennis keeping full guard, as Baran tries to pass. Ennis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Baran is aware though and is defending well. Baran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ennis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Baran has managed to get both his arms back between Ennis's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baran trying to control but Ennis is working from the bottom. Ennis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Baran has his hands clasped together but Ennis extends an breaks Baran's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ennis.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Ennis!
