Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Paso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jordan tries to score with a low kick but Paso moves his leg out of the way. Jordan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Paso moves to clinch but Jordan breaks away and Jordan counters with a left to the body. A head kick misses from Jordan. Paso tries to clinch and Jordan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jordan trying to control the position from guard on top but Paso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Paso is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jordan is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeff Jordan. Paso closes the distance but Jordan moves to the side and Jordan counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Paso looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jordan throws a sloppy head kick and Paso moves out of range easily. Jordan shoots in for a double leg but Paso sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jordan tries a head kick but it misses.
Stefan Paso is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jordan throws a body kick that misses. Paso takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Jordan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Paso tries to clinch but Jordan moves away and Jordan counters with a nice double leg into guard. Jordan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Paso is working an open guard so Jordan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Paso should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Jordan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Paso sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jordan somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Jordan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Paso tries to clinch but fails miserably and Jordan counters with a stiff right hand. Nice takedown defense from Paso. No joy for Jordan on that attempt. Paso tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jordan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Paso thinking. Paso tries to clinch and Jordan counters with a shoot takedown. Paso fights it but they end up in guard. Jordan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Paso is proving hard to escape from. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Paso being controlled here, momentarily.

Jordan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jordan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Paso is staying active underneath Jordan, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jordan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jordan stands up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jordan throws a sloppy head kick and Paso moves out of range easily.

A right-left combo lands from Jordan. Stefan Paso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Paso tries to clinch up letting Jordan counter with a right hand. Jordan lands with a nice body punch. Paso tries to clinch but fails miserably and Jordan counters with a single leg into guard. Paso didn't expect that. Paso is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jordan trying to control but Paso is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jordan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Paso throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jordan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Paso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Paso thows a big elbow that misses. Paso really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jordan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jordan looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jordan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Paso off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Paso takes a body punch but keeps moving. Paso wants to clinch but Jordan slips to the side and Jordan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Paso has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jordan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jordan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Paso thows a big elbow that misses. Paso working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Paso stands up over Jordan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Stefan Paso has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Paso landing with the ground and pound. Jeff Jordan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jordan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Paso is controlling him.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jeff Jordan. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jordan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
