Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justus Sheehan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garry Dupuis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sheehan comes to the cage accompanied by Best Day Ever. Dupuis has chosen Warriors Of Time by Black Tide as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Justus Sheehan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Garry Dupuis! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sheehan misses with a few strikes there.
Sheehan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dupuis's waist but Dupuis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sheehan off to one side. Sheehan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dupuis pinned against the cage. Dupuis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Dupuis looks for a takedown but Sheehan sprawls well. Sheehan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dupuis dodges the punch combination from Sheehan.
Sheehan misses with a double jab.
Dupuis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sheehan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dupuis won't be happy with that. Sheehan looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Dupuis is avoiding damage well.
The ground and pound from Sheehan seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Dupuis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Sheehan is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheehan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dupuis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sheehan controlling the position. Sheehan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dupuis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Dupuis wants to control but Sheehan postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dupuis tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Sheehan throwing wild punches that miss their target. Dupuis breaks Sheehan's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Sheehan looking for a guillotine here but Dupuis defends easily.

Sheehan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dupuis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Sheehan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dupuis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dupuis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dupuis wants to control from the top but Sheehan keeps moving. Sheehan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dupuis has gone for a leg lock! Sheehan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dupuis's guard. Sheehan content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheehan trying to control but Dupuis is working from the bottom. Sheehan tries to free his leg and advance position but Dupuis is retaining full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sheehan throwing strikes from guard but Dupuis blocks nicely. Sheehan looking to sit in guard and control but Dupuis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Justus Sheehan dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dupuis has Sheehan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sheehan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Dupuis lands a takedown into guard.
Sheehan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dupuis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sheehan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sheehan has escaped and now he's on top! Sheehan sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dupuis keeping moving, preventing Sheehan from controlling successfully. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Justus Sheehan. Dupuis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sheehan swivels and escapes. Dupuis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sheehan counters with a thumping low kick. Justus Sheehan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Garry Dupuis. Dupuis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sheehan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sheehan. Dupuis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sheehan counters with a nice uppercut. Sheehan looks for a takedown but Dupuis sprawls well. Sheehan throws a right hand that Dupuis ducks under and follows up with a left that Dupuis also avoids with ease. Sheehan misses with a straight left. Dupuis has a takedown stuffed. Justus Sheehan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sheehan feints and as Dupuis raises his hands in defense, Sheehan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Dupuis keeping moving, preventing Sheehan from controlling successfully. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sheehan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dupuis is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dupuis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sheehan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sheehan wants to control from the top but Dupuis keeps moving. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Sheehan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dupuis wants to control the position but Sheehan says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Sheehan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dupuis wants to get back to his feet.
Sheehan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sheehan is trying to control the action in half guard but Dupuis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Justus Sheehan dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Sheehan fails to land the takedown. Dupuis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sheehan.
Dupuis misses with a takedown attempt - Sheehan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nice sprawl there from Dupuis as Sheehan shoots in. Sheehan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dupuis. Sheehan gets tackled into the cage by Dupuis. Dupuis maintains the clinch. Dupuis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sheehan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Dupuis lands a takedown into guard.
Dupuis tries to stand but Sheehan is controlling from the bottom. Dupuis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Dupuis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sheehan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dupuis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sheehan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sheehan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sheehan! Sheehan tries to score with some ground and pound. Dupuis controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Dupuis tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Sheehan looking for the RNC.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sheehan is looking for the choke from the back position but Dupuis is controlling his hands well. Dupuis staying busy and making it hard for Sheehan to control. Dupuis has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Sheehan. Sheehan tightening his grip on Dupuis, looking for the choke. Dupuis wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dupuis defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Sheehan's arms. Dupuis has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Sheehan. Sheehan is looking for the choke from the back position but Dupuis is controlling his hands well. Dupuis breaks Sheehan's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheehan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dupuis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dupuis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sheehan, up you get! Dupuis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sheehan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dupuis somewhat. Justus Sheehan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Garry Dupuis. A combination from Sheehan does no damage. Sheehan fails to land with a series of punches.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dupuis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sheehan as he avoids it easily. Garry Dupuis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sheehan lands a two punch combo.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justus Sheehan. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sheehan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
