Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Czolgosz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ty Angle!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leon Czolgosz!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Angle fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Czolgosz sprawls well initially but Angle persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Czolgosz wants to control but Angle is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Czolgosz looking for submissions off his back.
Angle working over Czolgosz with some ground and pound. Czolgosz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Angle prevents Czolgosz from improving his position.

Angle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Angle sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Czolgosz defending well though.

Angle is looking for a kimura here.
Czolgosz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Czolgosz is trying to maintain the position but Angle is very close to passing his half guard.
Angle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Czolgosz is pressing down on Angle's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Angle working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Czolgosz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Angle defends it easily.
Angle looking to sit in guard and control but Czolgosz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Angle throws his legs up looking for a submission but Czolgosz uses it to pass to side control.
Angle gets back to half guard.

Czolgosz is looking for a kimura but Angle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Czolgosz to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Angle trying to control but Czolgosz postures up.
Czolgosz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Angle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Angle keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Angle won't allow Czolgosz to pass to mount.
Czolgosz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Angle!

Czolgosz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Angle manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Angle tries to buck Czolgosz off but Czolgosz is having none of it.
Angle is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Czolgosz is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Angle gets full guard.
Angle looking to control.
Angle is looking to sweep but instead, Czolgosz has passed into half guard.
Angle is trying to control but Czolgosz passes into side control!

Czolgosz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Czolgosz is putting a hurting on Angle here, landing some big shots from side control.
Angle is trying to get back to half guard.
Angle is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Angle tries to improve position but can't.
Czolgosz moves into full mount!
Angle wants to control but Czolgosz is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Angle tries to control Czolgosz's body but Czolgosz pushes him off. Angle squirms to his side and now Czolgosz has his back!
Czolgosz is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Angle. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Leon Czolgosz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Czolgosz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Angle avoids it really well and circles away.
Angle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Czolgosz sprawls well. Czolgosz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Angle gets slowly back to his feet.
Angle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Czolgosz tries to avoid it but Angle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Czolgosz to the ground. Czolgosz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ty Angle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Czolgosz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Angle is trying desperately to improve position.
Czolgosz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
A nice elbow there by Czolgosz.
Czolgosz tries to control but Angle wriggling away.
Czolgosz controlling from the full mount.
Angle is in all sorts of trouble here.

Czolgosz scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Angle?
Czolgosz lands a heavy elbow.
Angle regains half guard.
Angle manages to get to full guard.
Leon Czolgosz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Angle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Angle looking for a guillotine here but Czolgosz defends easily.

Angle looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Czolgosz passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Angle is trying to improve his position.
Czolgosz landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Angle is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Czolgosz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

You can see the frustration on Angle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Angle manages to work his way to half guard, despite Czolgosz's best efforts.
Angle gets back to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Angle keeping moving, preventing Czolgosz from controlling successfully.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Czolgosz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Czolgosz postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leon Czolgosz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Czolgosz shoots in for a double leg but Angle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Angle has a takedown stuffed.
Czolgosz shoots for a takedown but Angle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Czolgosz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Angle!

Czolgosz wants to take Angle's back but he can't do it this time.

Angle regains half guard.
Angle moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Czolgosz trying to control the position from guard on top but Angle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Czolgosz postures up.
Czolgosz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Czolgosz trying to control but Angle is working from the bottom.
Czolgosz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Let's hope that Czolgosz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Leon Czolgosz wasn't active enough on the ground.
Angle tries to clinch there but Czolgosz circles away.
Czolgosz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ty Angle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leon Czolgosz.
Angle dives in and grabs Czolgosz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Czolgosz pushes down on Angle's head and hops out.
A cross from Czolgosz lands.
Angle tries to close the distance and clinch but Czolgosz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Angle is looking to clinch.
Ty Angle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Czolgosz.
Angle shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Angle shoots in looking for a takedown but Czolgosz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Angle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Czolgosz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Angle moves away.

Angle changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Czolgosz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Angle is looking to take a break and control but Czolgosz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Angle working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Angle lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Czolgosz down.

Angle in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Czolgosz is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
