Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mike Beetle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Baddock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baddock misses with a wild combination.
Beetle throws a head kick that Baddock semi-blocks.
Baddock moves into the clinch successfully.
Baddock fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Beetle gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Baddock is rocked! Baddock changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Beetle fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Baddock is still on wobbly legs! Can Beetle finish him? Baddock has Beetle up against the cage in a clinch.
Baddock jumps guard but Beetle stands there with Baddock around his waist. Baddock gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Baddock seems to have recovered his senses. Mike Beetle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Baddock. Beetle wants a takedown.
Beetle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Beetle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Baddock misses with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Beetle or perhaps it was just good defense by Baddock which made him look bad. Baddock stuffs the takedown. Baddock has Beetle up against the cage in a clinch.
Beetle gets a trip takedown into half guard. Beetle wants to control but Baddock is keeping him busy. Baddock is trying to get back to full guard. Beetle controlling the pace. Beetle is looking to stall here but Baddock recovers full guard. Beetle sitting in guard, not really doing much. Beetle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Baddock throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Baddock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beetle defends it easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Baddock pulls Beetle in close to prevent any damage. Baddock working a defensive guard here.
Beetle won't allow Baddock to get back to his feet. Beetle looking to sit in guard and control but Baddock gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baddock passes Beetle's left leg - he's now in half guard. Baddock looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Baddock wants to stand up but Beetle is controlling the position.
Baddock is looking for a kimura here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baddock trying to control the action but Beetle is working from the bottom. Baddock wants to stand up but Beetle has a hold of him and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Baddock with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Baddock dominated that round. That's time! Beetle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Beetle gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Beetle gets a trip takedown into half guard. Baddock is staying active underneath Beetle, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Baddock tries to get to full guard but Beetle has control of the leg. Beetle perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are battling for position here. Baddock manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Beetle trying to control the position from guard on top but Baddock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mike Beetle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Beetle leaves Baddock with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Baddock shoots in for a takedown but Beetle shows good takedown defense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beetle rushes Baddock and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Baddock drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mike Beetle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Baddock. Baddock is breathing heavily. Baddock can't get the takedown.
Baddock has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Beetle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Beetle clinches up against the cage. Baddock takes an elbow to the forehead. Beetle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Baddock walks forward, straight into a front kick from Beetle. Mike Beetle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Baddock is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Beetle is keeping busy. Nice elbow from Beetle. Beetle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Baddock misses the shot to the body. Baddock is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Beetle closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Baddock quickly recovers to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Baddock is not content to let Beetle control the position. Beetle controlling the pace. Beetle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baddock on the ground. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Baddock is looking to control Beetle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Baddock avoid being mounted?
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mike Beetle just wasn't active enough. Baddock stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Baddock wants it to stay on the feet. Beetle forces Baddock back against the cage and clinches. Beetle breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Baddock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beetle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beetle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Beetle looking to sit in guard and control but Baddock gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Baddock trying to control but Beetle is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baddock in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Baddock gets to his feet. Beetle looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Beetle tries to close the distance and clinch but Baddock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Beetle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Baddock fails with the takedown. Baddock shoots in for a takedown but Beetle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Excellent takedown into side control there by Beetle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Baddock gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Beetle as Baddock tries to tie him up. Baddock has Beetle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Beetle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Baddock takes an elbow to the forehead. Baddock wants to break the clinch but can't.

Beetle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Baddock pulls him back up using the underhooks. Baddock tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Beetle just stands there and leans against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Beetle just misses with a elbow thrown towards Baddock's brow. Beetle keeps control of Baddock as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Beetle prevents Baddock from breaking the clinch. Baddock tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Beetle just stands there and leans against the cage. Beetle breaks from the clinch.
Mike Beetle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Baddock looks for a takedown but Beetle sprawls well. Baddock misses with a double jab.
Beetle drives through with a takedown into guard. Beetle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Beetle slips nicely into half guard. Beetle prevents Baddock from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baddock is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Beetle takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baddock pushes Beetle off looking to stand but Beetle dives back in and keeps control.
Beetle decides to stand and escape the position. Beetle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Baddock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beetle somewhat. Baddock has closed the distance and engaged Beetle in a clinch.

Mike Beetle has scored more points in the clinch so far. Baddock gets underhooks to prevent Beetle's takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beetle is trying to break free. Baddock looking to stall.
Baddock takes an elbow to the temple. Baddock fails to pull guard.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Beetle. Beetle lands a damaging elbow. Baddock stalling in the clinch but Beetle improves position. Baddock is working for takedown but Beetle is calmly controlling the position for now. A nice glancing elbow lands by Beetle. Baddock can't break the clinch.
Baddock jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Beetle walks away with a smile on his face. Baddock gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Beetle throws a series of punches but Baddock avoids them all with ease. A head kick misses from Beetle. Baddock looks for a takedown but Beetle sprawls well. Baddock drives through and clinches with Beetle against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beetle pressing his opponent against the cage. Beetle decides to pull guard. Baddock throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Baddock stays in close to Beetle's body and controls the position. Baddock trying to control the position from guard on top but Beetle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Baddock is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Baddock was stalling too much, according to the referee. Beetle tries for a takedown but Baddock sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mike Beetle. I think Beetle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
