Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Samoa Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiago Barbosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barbosa has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samoa Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tiago Barbosa! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barbosa is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Barbosa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Joe tries to sprawl but Barbosa drives through with a takedown into half guard. Joe regains full guard. Nicely done. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joe holds on and takes a little breather. Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barbosa defends well. Joe wants to sweep here but Barbosa controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Joe keeping moving, preventing Barbosa from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barbosa's guard. Joe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Joe wants to control from the top but Barbosa keeps moving. Barbosa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Joe is looking to work some ground and pound but Barbosa has wrist control. Joe lands a couple of decent looking shots. Joe thows a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Barbosa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Joe cracks Barbosa with a solid left hand. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Joe stands up over Barbosa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Joe lands a couple of decent looking shots. Joe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barbosa's head. Joe trying to control but Barbosa is working from the bottom. Joe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Joe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Barbosa controlling Joe's posture. Barbosa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Joe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Barbosa seems keen to control Joe's posture. Barbosa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Tiago Barbosa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Barbosa throws a chopping leg kick but Joe manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Joe shoots in looking for a takedown. Barbosa tries to sprawl out of it but Joe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barbosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Barbosa shoots in looking for a takedown but Joe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barbosa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Barbosa fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Samoa Joe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiago Barbosa. Barbosa slaps away a takedown attempt from Joe, before circling back to the center of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barbosa gets a double leg takedown into Joe's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Samoa Joe dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Barbosa keeps the fight on the outside. Joe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Barbosa sprawls well. Barbosa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Joe gets slowly back to his feet. Joe throws an overhand right that lands on Barbosa's shoulder, as Barbosa tries to avoid the shot. Joe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barbosa looks for a takedown but Joe sprawls well. Barbosa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joe, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbosa breaks the clinch.
A lazy left from Joe finds it's target. Barbosa looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Joe takes one to the chin there. Barbosa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Joe is trying to defend but Barbosa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Joe is pressing down on Barbosa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Joe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barbosa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barbosa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barbosa engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Joe looking to control.
Samoa Joe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Barbosa is controlling him. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Joe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Joe takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barbosa wants to clinch up but Joe keeps it at a distance. Barbosa scores a takedown into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joe slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Barbosa keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Joe is trying to get back to full guard. Joe gets back to full guard.
Barbosa wants to stand but Joe has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Joe has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Barbosa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Barbosa moves in looking to clinch but Joe pushes him off. Barbosa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joe, pushing him back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barbosa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Joe tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samoa Joe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Joe looking for a takedown. Joe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Barbosa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Barbosa misses with a knee strike.

Barbosa wants to control but Joe is keeping him busy. Joe prevents Barbosa from improving position. Joe is pushing Barbosa's head away, looking to escape. Joe wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tiago Barbosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
