Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Nick Shamrock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmy Kimmel! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shamrock tries to move into range but Kimmel moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Shamrock looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kimmel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shamrock. Kimmel misses with a lunging right hand
and Shamrock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Shamrock lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Kimmel blocks a jab. Shamrock connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kimmel. Kimmel circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Kimmel swings widly with a right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Shamrock misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shamrock shoots in and bounces Kimmel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Shamrock throws a big right hand that misses. Shamrock stays in close to Kimmel's body and controls the position. Shamrock really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shamrock passes into half guard. Shamrock is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kimmel defends it well. Shamrock is looking for a kimura but Kimmel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shamrock to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shamrock moves into full mount! Kimmel won't be happy about that! Kimmel is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Shamrock locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Kimmel is forced to tap!
