0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Champ! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metamus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Champ is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Metamus scores with a couple of nice shots. Champ wants to control but Metamus is keeping busy and won't allow it. Metamus slips a nice elbow through Champ's hands, connecting with Champ's forehead. Metamus wants to pass to mount but Champ is defending the position. Champ missing with punches from the bottom.
Metamus winds up and cracks Champ with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Champ on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Metamus controlling the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Metamus trying to control the action but Champ is working from the bottom. The crowd are loving this. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Champ with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Champ thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Metamus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Metamus keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Champ is trying to maintain the position but Metamus is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Champ wants to control but Metamus is keeping busy.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Metamus connects with a nice short shot to Champ's temple. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Luke Metamus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Metamus tries to free his leg and advance position but Champ is retaining full guard. Metamus landing some decent shots from guard. Metamus lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Champ doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Metamus could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Metamus has his hands clasped together around Champ's back. He's all about the action. Metamus is looking for a sweep. Champ is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Champ is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Metamus defends it well. Metamus is looking to control Champ's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Metamus avoid being mounted? Champ tries to score a power double leg takedown but Metamus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Champ somewhat. Champ is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Metamus tries to clinch but Champ moves out of range. Metamus throws a leg kick but Champ moved away. Champ tries for a takedown but Metamus circles away easily and Champ takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The Champ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Metamus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Luke Metamus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Champ. Champ gets caught napping as Metamus dives in and scores a takedown. Champ manages to retain guard. Champ thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Metamus trying to control but Champ is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Champ's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Metamus is working Champ over with some ground and pound from side control. Champ is trying to control Metamus's posture but Metamus avoids it. Metamus is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Champ is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
