PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Potts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright comes to the cage accompanied by Bullet for my Valentine - Scream Aim And Fire. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Potts!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Potts shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Potts was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wright working to try and regain half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Potts breaks from Wright's wrist control and lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Potts has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Potts is keen to just control but Wright is a slippery customer.
Potts is nestled in close to Wright, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Wright closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Potts is looking for a sweep.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potts sneaks back into half guard.
Potts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Potts misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Potts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wright manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wright drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Potts manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wright has Potts in his guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Potts won't let Wright get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Potts cracks Wright with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Potts lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Potts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
