Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin O Neill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takashi Katsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Neill's entrance music is Sing for the moment - Eminem. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Martin O Neill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takashi Katsumoto! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Neill throws a shot from downtown. Katsumoto moves away and avoids it. Katsumoto feints and then cracks O Neill's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow O Neill down. Katsumoto moves away from the strike by O Neill. O Neill throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Katsumoto sees it coming and avoids it easily. Katsumoto connects with an inside leg kick. Katsumoto ducks under a wild hook from O Neill. O Neill misses with a combination
and Katsumoto counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. O Neill avoids the head kick by Katsumoto.
O Neill connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Katsumoto momentarily.
Katsumoto throws a low kick but O Neill moves out of range easily. Katsumoto throws a sloppy head kick and O Neill moves out of range easily. Katsumoto works the jab nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A looping hook to the body misses from O Neill. Katsumoto does a little dance to reset his feet. The fighters circling - O Neill throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Katsumoto connects with a leg kick. O Neill looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Katsumoto moves away from the strike by O Neill. Katsumoto has taken the fight to the clinch.
O Neill is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. O Neill tries to circle away but Katsumoto has him pinned against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. O Neill looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Katsumoto misses with an elbow over the top. O Neill breaks from the clinch.
Katsumoto throws a head kick that half lands.
O Neill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Katsumoto lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Katsumoto moves out of range as O Neill strikes. Katsumoto connects with a high kick. O Neill misses with a looping right. No luck with that takedown attempt from O Neill. Katsumoto with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Katsumoto moves into range and connects with a jab. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Katsumoto, right into the meat.
Good leg kick by Katsumoto there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O Neill blocks a head kick by Katsumoto.

O Neill is breathing heavily. O Neill missing with a left hand there. Katsumoto was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. O Neill throws a hook but Katsumoto avoids it easily. Katsumoto looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Katsumoto lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. A jab from O Neill misses. O Neill stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Katsumoto. Katsumoto sizes up O Neill with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Katsumoto scores with a kick to the midsection. Katsumoto drives through and clinches with O Neill against the cage.

Katsumoto tries to land knees in the clinch but O Neill avoids the damage to the body. O Neill is trying to break the clinch but Katsumoto has him pressed against the cage. Katsumoto throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

O Neill misses with a double jab
and Katsumoto counters with a good low kick that O Neill was not able to check. A big right from O Neill misses. Katsumoto scores with a leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katsumoto connects with a leg kick. O Neill looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Katsumoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and O Neill has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! O Neill's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Katsumoto connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! O Neill scrambles back to his feet. Katsumoto lands a jab to the head.

O Neill with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Katsumoto to score with a decent uppercut. Katsumoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and O Neill has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. O Neill gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Katsumoto.
O Neill misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Katsumoto closes the distance and clinches. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A short right hand to the side of the head by Katsumoto. Katsumoto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. O Neill looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Katsumoto misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takashi Katsumoto dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Katsumoto counters with a slapping leg kick. Katsumoto lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. O Neill is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. O Neill misses with an uppercut
and Katsumoto counters with a nice low kick that buckles O Neill's knee momentarily. Katsumoto lets loose with a powerful body kick. O Neill will feel that in the morning. Katsumoto lands a big head kick that sends O Neill tumbling to the mat! Katsumoto takes a step backwards and waves O Neill back to his feet - he wants the finish!
O Neill is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A nice leg kick lands there from Katsumoto. Oh O Neill is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Katsumoto has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Katsumoto pushes O Neill away with a front kick. O Neill gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Katsumoto gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
