Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Junior Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Push it to the Limit - Rick Ross. Kent is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden". The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junior Rivera!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Kent!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent throws a leg kick
and Rivera cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rivera misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kent.
Kent avoids the head kick by Rivera.
Kent scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kent throws a sloppy head kick and Rivera moves out of range easily.
Rivera tries a low kick but Kent avoids it.
Kent wants to slow Rivera down by chopping away at his legs.
Kent does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Rivera counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kent's knee momentarily.

Kent lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Rivera drives through and clinches with Kent against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rivera.

Kent has picked Rivera up - he's going for a ride! Kent dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rivera moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rivera swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rivera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kent sprawls well initially but Rivera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Rivera fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kent has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Jim Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kent.

Rivera stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Kent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kent throws a leg kick but Rivera sees it coming and moves out of range.
Kent tries for a takedown but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Kent walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rivera lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kent has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kent and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rivera throws and elbow that misses. Kent uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rivera's guard. Nice move by Kent!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Junior Rivera.
