The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scherueble fails with an attempt to clinch.
Roll throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scherueble's waist but Scherueble gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roll off to one side.
Scherueble is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Scherueble throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Roll shoots in for a double leg but Scherueble sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Scherueble with a lazy takedown attempt
and Roll counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Roll is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Scherueble is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Scherueble looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roll works his foot free and advances to mount.

Roll is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Roll extends the arm and Scherueble is forced to tap!
