Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez comes to the cage accompanied by Why Try. Sean Perry has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Melendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Perry! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perry walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Melendez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Melendez misses the shot to the body. Melendez swings for the body but Perry moves out of range.
Melendez stuffs the takedown attempt from Perry. Perry gets slowly back to his feet. Perry buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Perry throws a head kick but Melendez moves out of range.
Perry defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Melendez. Melendez shoots in but no luck this time. Melendez tries a head kick but it misses.
Melendez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Perry.
Melendez moves in looking to clinch but Perry pushes him off. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Perry checks a leg kick. Perry fails with the takedown and Melendez counters with a lovely straight right hand! Melendez misses the jab. Perry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry throwing strikes but missing. Melendez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Perry with a nice head shot there. Perry must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Melendez punching from the bottom. Perry is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Melendez is controlling Perry's posture. Melendez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Melendez is breathing heavily. Perry throwing strikes from guard but Melendez blocks nicely. Perry keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Melendez's head. Melendez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Perry with a flurry of punches that miss. Melendez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melendez working Perry over with strikes here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Perry is squirming around, avoiding Melendez's attempts to control the action. Perry is trying to escape the mount.
Perry is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Perry taking shots to the head. Melendez dominating with strikes here. Melendez looking to finish with strikes here!
Perry is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez is in the full mount, landing strikes. Perry squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Perry keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Melendez is landing with some decent strikes but Perry is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Melendez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Melendez looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Perry covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
