PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Louis Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duk Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans comes to the cage accompanied by Panasonic Youth by The Dillinger Escape Plan. Dong has chosen Thompson Twins - If You Were Here as his entrance music. Duk Dong struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Duk Dong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Louis Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duk Dong!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Evans, right into the meat.
Evans moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Evans fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dong checks it well.
Dong is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Evans throws a solid leg kick but Dong takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Evans.
Evans throws a low kick but Dong moves out of range easily.
Evans finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Evans tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dong is able to avoid easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dong looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Evans keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Evans throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Evans jabs at Dong's body.
Dong is looking to clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Evans lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dong has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dong and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Evans is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

so Dong counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Evans wants to stand and escape but Dong is having none of it.
Dong is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Dong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dong stands up over Evans, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Dong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Evans can't keep his opponent in guard - Dong advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Evans is defending against the submission attempts here by Dong.
Evans might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Evans wants to get back to his feet.

Dong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Evans knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dong slips a nice elbow through Evans's hands, connecting with Evans's forehead.
