PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Huff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Huff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews thows a body shot but no joy.
Matthews looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Huff changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matthews tries to avoid it but Huff manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matthews to the ground. Matthews escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matthews throws a right and a left that Huff avoids nicely.
Huff closes the distance and clinches up with Matthews, looking for a takedown. Huff pushes Matthews against the cage but Matthews circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Matthews scores with a shot to the body.
Huff tries to clinch there but Matthews circles away.
Matthews bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Huff's head backwards.
Matthews misses with a head kick.

Matthews gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Huff trying to control the position from guard on top but Matthews is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Huff is really struggling to control Matthews but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Huff stands up from Matthews's guard - Huff perhaps looking for a knockout.

Huff closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Huff drops an elbow to the side of Matthews's head.

Huff not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Matthews manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Matthews gets caught flat footed, as Huff shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Huff is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Matthews enables Huff to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Matthews manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Huff shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matthews sprawls well. Matthews wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Huff gets slowly back to his feet.

Matthews tries to score a power double leg takedown but Huff sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Matthews somewhat.

Huff is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Matthews doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Huff.

William Huff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Matthews has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Huff is working away from the top position though.

Huff looks up at the clock and then as Matthews takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Huff smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

William Huff showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Huff, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
