The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance.
Carter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Williams sprawls well. Williams wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carter gets slowly back to his feet.
Williams shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice takedown defense from Carter. No joy for Williams on that attempt.

Carter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Williams is trying to get back to his feet but Carter has full control of the position and if anything, Williams has just worked his way into a worse spot.

That was a close second round but I would say that Peter Carter will probably get the nod.

Carter dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Carter's head and hops out.
