PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Camillo Samcjez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taylor Stram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor Stram told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Camillo Samcjez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taylor Stram!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Samcjez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Stram with a poor takedown
and Samcjez counters with a low kick, right behind Stram 's knee.

Stram drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Camillo Samcjez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taylor Stram.

Samcjez breaks the clinch.
Stram needs to keep his hands up - Samcjez had a free shot at his head there.

Stram changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Samcjez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Samcjez pushes Stram away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Stram gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Stram tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stram has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Samcjez tries to escape but Stram is in control.

Stram swings around for an armbar but Samcjez sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Stram's guard.

Samcjez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stram is proving hard to escape from.

Stram working for a triangle but Samcjez defends it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Samcjez gets to his feet. Stram looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Samcjez counters with a nice low kick that buckles Stram's knee momentarily.

Stram closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stram lands in his opponent's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stram distracts Samcjez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stram drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Samcjez dives on top into guard.

Stram is looking for a triangle but Samcjez pushes his legs off easily.

Stram is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Samcjez defends well.
Stram is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Samcjez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stram on the ground.
Stram throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Stram is looking for a kimura but Samcjez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stram to get the leverage.

Samcjez kicks Stram off and gets back to his feet.
Stram shoots in but no luck this time.

Stram doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Samcjez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stram takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Samcjez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stram.

and Samcjez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Samcjez throws a sloppy head kick and Stram moves out of range easily.
Stram shoots for a takedown but Samcjez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Samcjez lands a head kick. Stram smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Camillo Samcjez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Samcjez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stram manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Taylor Stram will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Stram changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Samcjez tries to avoid it but Stram manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Samcjez to the ground. Samcjez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Samcjez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stram shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Stram was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Stram is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Samcjez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Samcjez wants to try and get back to his feet.
Stram lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
A nice elbow there by Stram.

Stram is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Samcjez is surviving well by controlling Stram's body position as best he can.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stram is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Stram is landing with some decent strikes but Samcjez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Samcjez is controlling an arm, preventing Stram from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Stram has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Samcjez after a bit of a struggle.

Taylor Stram seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stram shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Samcjez as he avoids it easily.

Stram is trying to drag Samcjez to the mat but Samcjez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Samcjez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stram, pushing him back against the cage.

Stram is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Samcjez pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Stram closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stram thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Stram goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Samcjez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stram but great work by Samcjez.
Taylor Stram has got the better of the ground game so far.

Samcjez decides to stand back up. Samcjez steps back and let's Stram get back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Taylor Stram is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I think Stram has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
