Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Penderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mokong Kupal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Penderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mokong Kupal!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penderson has managed to clinch.
Penderson blocks an elbow strike.
Penderson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kupal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Penderson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Penderson manages to break the clinch.
Kupal throws a series of punches but Penderson moves out of range.
Penderson slips a jab from Kupal.

Penderson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kupal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kupal explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Horrible takedown by Penderson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kupal which made him look bad.
Penderson fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Penderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kupal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Penderson swats away the attempt to clinch by Kupal.

Penderson drives through and clinches with Kupal against the cage.
Penderson is trying to break the clinch but Kupal has him pressed against the cage.

Penderson jumps guard and drags Kupal to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kupal tries to free his leg and advance position but Penderson is retaining full guard.
Kupal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kupal would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kupal is fighting to break Penderson's control of his arms but Penderson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Penderson tries to strike from the bottom.
Penderson is trying to keep Kupal in close.
Penderson wants to sweep here but Kupal controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice takedown defense from Kupal. No joy for Penderson on that attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Penderson shoots in for a takedown but Kupal shows good takedown defense.

and Penderson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Penderson.
Kupal is looking to stand up but Penderson isn't so interested in that idea.
Kupal tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kupal wants to get back to his feet but Penderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Penderson gets to his feet - Kupal follows without any prompting.
Penderson tries to clinch up but Kupal circles away and keeps his distance.

and Penderson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kupal!
Kupal wants to control but Penderson is having none of it.

Kupal tries to buck Penderson off but Penderson takes his back!
Penderson gets his hands free as Kupal looks to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penderson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kupal has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Penderson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kupal's body.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Penderson is looking for a rear naked choke here but Kupal reverses the position brilliantly into Penderson's guard!
Kupal is fighting to break Penderson's control of his arms but Penderson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penderson has his feet on Kupal's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kupal gets caught flat footed, as Penderson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Penderson with a nice head shot there.
Penderson stands up over Kupal, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Penderson slips nicely into half guard.
Penderson passes the guard and advances to mount!
Penderson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Penderson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kupal is surviving well by controlling Penderson's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Penderson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Penderson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Penderson lands in his opponent's guard.
Kupal wants to stand but Penderson is controlling the position.
Penderson connects with a couple of short punches.
Penderson is looking to work some ground and pound but Kupal has wrist control.
Penderson wants to control from the top but Kupal keeps moving.

Penderson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Penderson scores with a takedown into Kupal's guard.
Penderson won't allow Kupal to get back to his feet.
Kupal utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penderson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Penderson instigates a clinch.
Penderson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kupal just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kupal looking to throw knees to the head but Penderson is blocking nicely.
Penderson has Kupal pressed against the cage.

Penderson decides to pull guard.

Penderson pushes Kupal off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kupal misses with the combination.
Kupal scores with a sloppy right hand. Penderson should have avoided that one.
Penderson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kupal makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Penderson fails with the takedown

and Kupal counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kupal is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Penderson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Penderson is working Kupal over with some ground and pound from side control.

Penderson stands up.
Kupal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Penderson misses with a takedown
and Penderson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Penderson misses with a two punch combination.
Penderson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kupal pinned against the cage. Kupal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kupal tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Penderson counters with a leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Penderson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kupal lands a high kick to the side of Penderson's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Kupal dives into guard, looking to finish.


Penderson is rocked!
Kupal trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Oh Penderson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Penderson working for a triangle but Kupal defends it easily.
Penderson seems to have got his legs back now.
Roger Penderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Penderson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kupal is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Penderson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kupal is looking to defend but Penderson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kupal! Penderson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kupal taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Roger Penderson!
