Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wolfgang Van Beethoven ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralph Petit! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Beethoven fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Petit manages to avoid it. Petit keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Van Beethoven . Van Beethoven thows a body shot but no joy. Petit steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Beethoven . Nice takedown defense from Van Beethoven . No joy for Petit on that attempt. Van Beethoven looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Van Beethoven lands an overhand right. Van Beethoven looks to score with a jab to the body but Petit is just out of range. Van Beethoven throws a body punch but Petit moves out of range. Van Beethoven misses with a double jab
and Petit decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Van Beethoven 's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Petit postures up.
Petit controls from within his opponent's guard. Petit wants to control from the top but Van Beethoven keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Beethoven looking to hit a scissor sweep but Petit is one step ahead there. Van Beethoven wants to stand and escape but Petit is having none of it. Van Beethoven is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Wolfgang Van Beethoven just wasn't active enough. Van Beethoven misses with a hook. Petit ducked under it nicely. Van Beethoven misses with a hook to the body
and Petit counters with a nice double leg into guard. Petit is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Van Beethoven is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petit is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Petit trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Beethoven is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Petit postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ralph Petit was stalling too much, according to the referee. Petit shoots for a takedown but Van Beethoven saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Van Beethoven misses with a kick to the body.
Nice defenses there by Petit. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Van Beethoven looks to land a body kick but Petit moved away. Petit shoots in but Van Beethoven avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wolfgang Van Beethoven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ralph Petit. Petit fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Van Beethoven . Petit does a little dance to reset his feet. Van Beethoven misses with a left hand and Petit counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Van Beethoven ! Petit controlling from the full mount. Van Beethoven is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Petit locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Van Beethoven is forced to tap!
