Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Brodeur! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Sabre! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danga de danga de dang - Brodeur scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Matt Sabre has been cut. Brodeur drives through with a takedown into guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Brodeur stopping the sweep attempt from Sabre. Sabre looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Brodeur passes into half guard.
Sabre wants to control but Brodeur is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sabre tries to get to full guard but Brodeur has control of the leg. Brodeur throwing shots but Sabre is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brodeur tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Sabre. Brodeur trying to control the action but Sabre is working from the bottom. Brodeur throwing shots but Sabre is blocking nicely. Sabre tries to roll over but Brodeur keeps him under control. Brodeur sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sabre defending well though. Sabre blocking the ground and pound attempt from Brodeur.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sabre keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Sabre keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Brodeur wants to get back to his feet.
Sabre is looking to control Brodeur's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sabre avoid being mounted? Brodeur wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Brodeur gets a takedown into half guard. Brodeur is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sabre! Sabre tries to reverse the position but Brodeur maintains control. Brodeur has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sabre's face.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brodeur is trying to control here but Sabre has managed to regain half guard.
Brodeur tries to stand and escape but Sabre is controlling the position. Brodeur is stalling here. Sabre is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brodeur seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sabre has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Brodeur is looking to reverse the position. Sabre lands some shots froms side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Brodeur is looking for a sweep. Sabre wants to control but Brodeur is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marc Brodeur dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matt Sabre's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sabre throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice body punch from Brodeur. Brodeur bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sabre defending against the ground and pound. Brodeur wants to stand but Sabre has his arm trapped. Brodeur with the ground and pound but Sabre regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Brodeur stalling. Sabre is concentrating on defense, preventing Brodeur from advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sabre is staying active underneath Brodeur, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Brodeur has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Sabre works to full guard. Sabre is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brodeur is aware though and is defending well. Brodeur wants to stand and escape but instead Sabre has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sabre prevents Brodeur from getting back to his feet. Sabre throwing strikes but missing. Sabre thows a big elbow that misses. Sabre trying to control but Brodeur is working from the bottom. Sabre won't allow Brodeur to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sabre stays in close to Brodeur's body and controls the position. Sabre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brodeur is keeping the position for now. Brodeur is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brodeur misses with a series of wild punches.
Sabre just misses with a punch to the body.
Marc Brodeur seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brodeur fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sabre, pushing him back against the cage. Brodeur wants to break free but Sabre has control.
This has been an exciting period of action! Brodeur breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sabre takes a jab right on the kisser.
Sabre throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Brodeur fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sabre to the ground. Brodeur is now in Sabre's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brodeur wants to stand but Sabre has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sabre throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Brodeur is posturing up here but Sabre has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Brodeur tries to roll out but it's too tight and Brodeur has to tap! Slick submission there by Sabre!
