Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez has chosen Mavado - Final Destination (Raw) - Summer Fling Riddim as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Manny Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torres tries to sprawl but Alvarez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Alvarez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Torres trying to control from the bottom.

Alvarez trying to work for an americana but Torres has managed to regain full guard.
Alvarez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Torres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Torres is looking to advance position but Alvarez won't allow it.

Torres is keen to just control but Alvarez is a slippery customer.
Torres uses his free foot to push down on Alvarez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alvarez.

Alvarez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Torres is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Alvarez is surviving well by controlling Torres's body position as best he can.
Alvarez is wriggling around trying to escape.

Torres can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alvarez is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Alvarez holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Torres tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alvarez is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torres looking to control but Alvarez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Torres will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alvarez drives through with a takedown into Torres's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Alvarez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Torres manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alvarez has Torres in his guard.

Alvarez has his foot on Torres's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Torres works his way back into a safe position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alvarez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Oscar Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Torres is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alvarez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A close second round but Manny Alvarez will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Torres moves in looking to clinch but Alvarez pushes him off.
Torres throws a nice inside leg kick.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Torres napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Torres is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Torres manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Torres tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Torres throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Torres has hold of Alvarez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Alvarez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Torres could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Torres trying to control but Alvarez is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Oscar Torres showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Torres has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
