The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
carter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jenkins circles away.
Jenkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around carter's waist but carter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jenkins off to one side.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
carter throws a right hand that Jenkins ducks under and follows up with a left that Jenkins also avoids with ease.
carter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
carter wants to clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jenkins moves out of range of the body kick from carter.
carter shoots for a double leg takedown but Jenkins sprawls well. He's pushed carter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Jenkins.
Jenkins throws a nice looking combination but carter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
carter throws a head kick that misses.

and carter counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jenkins's knee momentarily.

Jenkins lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jenkins is looking for a kimura but carter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jenkins to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jenkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jenkins wants to control from the top but carter keeps moving.
Jenkins tries to free his leg and advance position but carter is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jenkins darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jenkins takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

carter has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Jenkins. Oh but carter has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Jenkins goes limp - he's gone! carter jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
