With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vice Grip!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin scores with a body shot.
Grip throws a wild body kick that Carwin sees coming a mile off.

A solid leg kick lands there for Grip.
Carwin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Grip misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carwin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grip.
Carwin throws an overhand right that lands on Grip's shoulder, as Grip tries to avoid the shot.
Carwin takes a swing at Grip's ribcage but misses.

Shane Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Grip counters with an inside leg kick.
Grip uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carwin.

Grip is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Carwin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Grip feints and then cracks Carwin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Carwin down.
Carwin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Grip cracks the inside of Carwin's front leg.
Grip lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Grip keeps Carwin at a distance using the push kick.
Grip ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carwin moves away.
Carwin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Carwin just misses with a punch to the body.
Carwin misses with an uppercut.
Grip lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Grip throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
A solid leg kick lands there for Grip.
Grip tries a head kick but it misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Grip.
A thudding body kick lands there by Grip!
Nice body kick there by Grip.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Grip lands a leg kick that knocks Carwin off balance momentarily.
Grip fakes the leg kick and cracks Carwin in the body.
Carwin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.
Grip ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Grip connects with a solid leg kick.

Grip fails to land with a series of punches.
Grip lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Grip slips a jab and a cross from Carwin.
Grip throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Carwin.
A head kick misses from Grip.
Grip moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Carwin is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Carwin misses with an uppercut. Grip saw that one coming.
Grip showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carwin.

Grip shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Grip was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carwin has given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vice Grip dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shane Carwin's cut.
That's time! Carwin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Grip throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carwin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Grip counters with an outside leg kick.
Carwin misses with a body punch

and Grip counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carwin won't be happy with that.
The referee asks Grip politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Grip prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grip works to advance to full mount. Carwin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Grip takes Carwin's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Carwin is in trouble.
Grip is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Grip looking to break Carwin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Carwin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Grip will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Carwin is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Grip has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Carwin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carwin defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Grip's arms.

Grip has his foot on Carwin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carwin works his way back into a safe position though.

Grip manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Carwin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Grip can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carwin is looking to escape.
Grip forces the positional change into back control.

Carwin won't enjoy being in this position. Grip looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Carwin is tapping - it's over boys! Grip picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vice Grip!
