The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Handel stuffs the takedown.
Handel throws a head kick but Burkhart moves out of range.
Burkhart shoots in for a takedown but Handel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Burkhart.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Burkhart. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Handel blocks a head kick by Burkhart.
Burkhart shoots in looking for a takedown. Handel tries to sprawl out of it but Burkhart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Handel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Burkhart shoots for a takedown but Handel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Handel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Burkhart.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Handel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burkhart defends well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Handel can do anything to dispel that myth.
