Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cortez swivels and escapes.
Cortez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cortez fails to land with a series of punches.

Sobral ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cortez moves away.
Sobral moves in looking to clinch but Cortez pushes him off.
Cortez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sobral moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sobral doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cortez counters with a one-two to the body.

and Cortez counters with a three punch combo that has Sobral backing up. Sobral nods at Cortez to acknowledge the strikes.

Miguel Cortez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Sobral.

Cortez throws a combination. Sobral tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Sobral fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cortez avoids it really well and circles away.
Sobral fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cortez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cortez.
Cortez misses with a few strikes there.
Miguel Cortez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortez looks to land a combination. Sobral sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Sobral is still on wobbly legs! Can Cortez finish him?

No joy there for Cortez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sobral is trying desperately to land a takedown but Cortez is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Sobral.
Cortez thuds a left hand into Sobral's body.
Cortez is looking to wear down Sobral with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Cortez connects with a right that clearly hurt Sobral. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Cortez proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Sobral collapses and taps out under the pressure!
