Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spike Spiegel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spiegel comes to the cage accompanied by Tank by The Seatbelts. Johns is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Welcome to the jungle. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Johns!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Spiegel.
Spiegel ducks under a wild hook from Johns.
Johns ducks right into an uppercut from Spiegel.
Spiegel looks to score with a jab to the body but Johns is just out of range.
Johns is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Johns swings for the body but Spiegel moves out of range.
Spiegel throws a shot to the body.
Spiegel slips a jab from Johns.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Johns misses with a hook.
Spike Spiegel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johns slips a straight right by Spiegel.

Spiegel misses with an uppercut. Johns saw that one coming.
Johns gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Spiegel.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johns uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Spiegel.
Spiegel tests Johns's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Spiegel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Johns in his tracks.
Spiegel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Johns keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Spiegel goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Johns swings for the body but Spiegel moves out of range.
Spiegel scores with a jab. Johns acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Johns counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Spiegel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Johns wants to free his trapped foot but Spiegel is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Spiegel is staying active underneath Johns, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Johns is pressing down on Spiegel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Spiegel is holding on for now.
Spiegel wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johns is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Spiegel wants to get back to his feet.

Johns is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Spiegel has managed to free his arm - good work.
Johns wants to control but Spiegel is keeping him busy.

Johns is looking for a kimura but Spiegel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johns to get the leverage.
Spiegel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Spiegel tries to get out of the position.

Johns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Spiegel is looking to escape.
Spiegel trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Spiegel is refusing to be controlled, as Johns sits in half guard.

Johns is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Johns has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Johns is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Spiegel to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Spiegel shrugs it off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johns working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Spiegel looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Johns! Submission of the night perhaps?
