Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan IV (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Platinum Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan IV!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Platinum Gold!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gold keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gold throws a low kick, looking for IV's leg but IV calmly moves out of range.
IV uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gold.
Gold is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Gold shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. IV manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
IV will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Gold throws a strike but IV rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
IV trying to control the position from guard on top but Gold is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

IV wants to pass the guard but Gold is keeping the position.

IV drops back looking for a leg! Gold is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gold manages to kick IV off! IV jumps back into Gold's guard.
IV has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gold is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Gold is looking to control IV's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gold avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gold is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Platinum Gold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
IV shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gold pinned against the cage. Gold gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

IV gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gold to score an easy takedown into full guard.

IV bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gold's guard.
Gold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with IV. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
IV stops Gold from standing up.
IV works over Gold with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
IV advances to half guard.
IV is just content to waste time from the top position. Gold takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Gold utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

IV avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ivan IV will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gold throws a series of punches but IV moves out of range.
IV throws a right and a left that Gold avoids nicely.

Gold closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
IV is trying to control Gold's posture but Gold avoids it.
IV gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gold thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed IV's head.
Gold looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks IV with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gold slips a nice elbow through IV's hands, connecting with IV's forehead.
IV looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are battling for position here. IV manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

IV is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gold defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gold trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gold wants to stand but IV has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gold is looking to work some ground and pound but IV has wrist control.
Gold throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gold distracts IV with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ivan IV overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
IV manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

IV is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gold has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gold!
IV seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

IV looking for a guillotine here but Gold defends easily.
IV is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gold tries to get to full guard but IV has control of the leg.
Gold is breathing heavily.
IV wants to take a breather but Gold is having none of it.

IV is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gold is just riding it out for now. IV eventually gives up the hold.

IV is controlling the pace.
IV is keen to just control but Gold is a slippery customer.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gold can do anything to dispel that myth.

IV is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gold doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time IV.

Gold has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. IV is working away from the top position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Gold shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in IV's guard.
Gold throws a strike but IV rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
IV wants to control from the top but Gold keeps moving.
IV passes Gold's left leg - he's now in half guard.
IV is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Gold avoiding damage under a succession of punches from IV.

IV is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gold sees it coming and defends easily.
IV winds up and cracks Gold with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gold is defending against the submission attempts here by IV.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

IV is working for a kimura but Gold is defending it quite comfortably.

Gold wants to get back to his feet.
IV passes the guard and advances to mount!
IV is in the full mount, landing strikes.

IV is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by IV!
