The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jons with a lazy takedown attempt and Abramova counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Abramova. Jons looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Abramova is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jons can't keep his opponent in guard - Abramova advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Still in half guard, Abramova seems content to control. Abramova seems to be looking for submissions.
Abramova stalling. Jons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abramova on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Abramova's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Abramova uses his free foot to push down on Jons's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jons.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abramova looking to finish Jons with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jons! Abramova looking to finish Jons with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jons! Jons might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Abramova controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like Abramova might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Abramova is in the full mount, landing strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abramova fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Abramova has isolated one of Jons's arms. Jons looking to fight him off but Abramova twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Vladimir Abramova!
