Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Armas Kuusisto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and H Y Kwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuusisto's entrance music is System of a down - Chop Suey. A fine choice. Kwon has chosen Wu Tang Clan - CREAM as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Armas Kuusisto! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, H Y Kwon! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuusisto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kwon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Kuusisto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kwon closes the distance looking to clinch and Kuusisto counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kwon lands an overhand right.
It looks like Armas Kuusisto has been cut. Kuusisto misses with a double jab
and Kwon counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Kwon goes for a takedown attempt but Kuusisto pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Kuusisto enables Kwon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kuusisto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kwon is fighting to break Kuusisto's control of his arms but Kuusisto is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kwon is working Kuusisto over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kwon throwing strikes from guard but Kuusisto blocks nicely. Kuusisto working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kwon. Kwon postures up in Kuusisto's guard and throws a big left but Kuusisto blocks it. Kwon tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuusisto is retaining full guard. Kwon lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kuusisto is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kwon is aware though and is defending well. Kwon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kwon being controlled here momentarily. Kwon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kuusisto works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kuusisto is trying to keep Kwon in close.
Kwon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kuusisto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kwon defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuusisto avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kwon looking to pass the guard. Kuusisto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kuusisto has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Kuusisto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kwon! This has been an exciting period of action! Kwon is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kwon regains half guard. Kuusisto trying to mount his opponent but Kwon defends it. Kuusisto stalling. Kwon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kuusisto.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kuusisto works his way into side control. Kuusisto swings around for an armbar but Kwon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kuusisto's guard. Kuusisto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kwon defends well. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kwon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kwon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kuusisto looking for a sweep. Not yet Kuusisto, not yet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kuusisto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kwon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but H Y Kwon will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Armas Kuusisto's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kuusisto fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kwon manages to avoid it. Kuusisto doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kwon throws a body kick that misses. Kuusisto throws a head kick but Kwon moves out of range.
Kuusisto lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Kuusisto throws a leg kick which misses Kwon's front leg but catches the back leg as Kwon tries to avoid it. Kuusisto misses with a hook. Kwon ducked under it nicely. Kuusisto gets caught napping as Kwon dives in and scores a takedown. Kuusisto manages to retain guard. Kwon stopping the sweep attempt from Kuusisto. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kwon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kuusisto looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kwon scoring with punches to the head and body. Kuusisto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kwon is looking for a sweep. Kuusisto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kuusisto stalling away here and it's allowed Kwon to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Kuusisto advances position into side control! Kwon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kuusisto's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Kwon looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kwon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kuusisto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kuusisto's back! Kwon is not going to allow Kuusisto to sit and survive in this position. Kwon has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Kuusisto manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kwon's guard. Nice work there by Kuusisto.

Kuusisto throws a body kick despite being completely out of range enabling Kwon to counter with a crisp jab. Kwon tries to clinch but Kuusisto moves away and Kuusisto counters with a slapping leg kick. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kwon. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kuusisto doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Kwon scores with a nice hook to the head. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Kuusisto is looking to control Kwon's arms but Kwon gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kuusisto has his back to the cage. Still in the clinch, Kuusisto scores with a nice short uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kwon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kuusisto counters with a straight right hand. Kuusisto takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Kuusisto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kwon. Armas Kuusisto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of H Y Kwon. Kwon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kwon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kuusisto swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kuusisto throws a front kick aimed at Kwon's knee but Kwon avoids it well. Armas Kuusisto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kuusisto cracks Kwon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
It looks like H Y Kwon has been cut. Kuusisto throws out a leg kick but Kwon moves out of range and Kuusisto only half commits. Kuusisto shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kwon defends it nicely. Kwon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kuusisto as he avoids it easily. H Y Kwon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kwon misses with a looping left. Kwon fails with a takedown attempt. Kuusisto lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. A nice inside leg kick there by Kuusisto. That's going to slow Kwon down. A clash of legs there as Kwon blocks the low kick. Kwon is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Kwon swinging wildly here.

Kuusisto scores with a kick to the midsection. Kuusisto tries a low kick but Kwon avoids it. Good leg kick by Kuusisto there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kwon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kuusisto. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kuusisto.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kwon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Kuusisto shoots in for a double leg but Kwon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kwon takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Kuusisto tries a low kick but Kwon avoids it. Kuusisto cracks the inside of Kwon's front leg. Kuusisto throws a push kick but Kwon slaps the foot to one side. Kuusisto lands a leg kick that knocks Kwon off balance momentarily. Kuusisto attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Kwon is looking to clinch. A right-left combo lands from Kuusisto. Kuusisto turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kwon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kuusisto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kwon. Nice shot by Kuusisto. Kwon checks a leg kick nicely. Kwon fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Armas Kuusisto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of H Y Kwon. Kuusisto feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kwons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Kuusisto keeps Kwon at a distance using the push kick. A big head kick from Kuusisto and Kwon is sent sprawling to the canvas! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kuusisto passes into half guard.

Kuusisto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kwon keeps working. Kuusisto wants to free his trapped foot but Kwon is holding on for dear life with his legs. Kuusisto has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kwon working to try and regain half guard.

Kuusisto throws a sloppy head kick and Kwon moves out of range easily. Kuusisto swings and misses with a shot to the body and Kwon makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kuusisto really felt that one! Kwon tries to clinch but Kuusisto moves out of range. Kwon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kwon blocks the body kick.
Kuusisto throws a nice inside leg kick. Kwon is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Kuusisto feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kwon's calf.

Kuusisto wants to control the position but Kwon says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. H Y Kwon has got the better of the ground game so far. Kuusisto controlling the position well. Kwon seems to be working for a kimura but Kuusisto defends the submission attempt. Kwon wants to work for an arm triangle but Kuusisto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kuusisto works his way to full guard. Good work. Kuusisto has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kwon doesn't defend quickly enough and Kuusisto has managed to lock this one up! Can Kwon escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Kuusisto on a fantastic submission victory.
