Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Gilden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Jackson! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilden has his takedown stuffed and Jackson counters with a crisp right hand that drops Gilden! Jackson lets Gilden back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Gilden is rocked!
It looks like Matt Gilden has been cut. Jackson tries to clinch but Gilden is having none of it. Oh Gilden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jackson leaves Gilden with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gilden fails to land the takedown. Gilden seems to have got his legs back now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Gilden. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gilden shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily. Gilden closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gilden is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gilden has hold of Jackson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jackson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gilden has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gilden is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jackson is surviving well by controlling Gilden's body position as best he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson is looking to improve his position but Gilden isn't that keen on the idea. Gilden is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Gilden is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jackson is surviving well by controlling Gilden's body position as best he can. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gilden wants to finish this one by submission but Jackson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gilden. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gilden has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Matt Gilden dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matt Gilden's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gilden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gilden shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jackson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gilden on his heels. He'll look to pass Gilden's guard now, I'm sure. Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gilden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson is in close to Gilden's body, working some short punches and elbows. Gilden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jackson with a nice head shot there. Jackson connects with a couple of short punches. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilden is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is sitting in close to Gilden's body. Gilden has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Jackson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Jackson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gilden.
