Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nao Sakumichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rila Kuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rila Kuma will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nao Sakumichi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rila Kuma!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuma lands a glancing blow to the side of Sakumichi's head.
Kuma displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Sakumichi misses with a takedown
and Kuma counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Kuma feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kuma is fighting to break Sakumichi's control of his arms but Sakumichi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kuma is defended easily by Sakumichi.

Kuma shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sakumichi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kuma sprawls well. He's pushed Sakumichi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nao Sakumichi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sakumichi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sakumichi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kuma defends it nicely.

Kuma shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sakumichi but Sakumichi pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sakumichi is trying to maintain the position but Kuma is very close to passing his half guard.

Kuma avoids the attempt from Sakumichi to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sakumichi can't escape the position.
Kuma wants to control the pace but Sakumichi is squirming around nicely.
Kuma tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Sakumichi tries to lock up and control but Kuma gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kuma prevents Sakumichi from getting the reversal.

Kuma is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Sakumichi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kuma counters with a leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kuma, as that shot connected.
Kuma slaps away a takedown attempt from Sakumichi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sakumichi shoots in for a takedown but Kuma shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sakumichi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kuma circles away.
Sakumichi dives in and grabs Kuma's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kuma pushes down on Sakumichi's head and hops out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kuma connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kuma fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sakumichi manages to avoid it.
Nice sprawl there from Kuma as Sakumichi shoots in.
Kuma lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sakumichi stuffs the takedown attempt from Kuma. Kuma gets slowly back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kuma has a takedown stuffed.
Kuma misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rila Kuma dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Sakumichi slips a nice elbow through Kuma's hands, connecting with Kuma's forehead.
Sakumichi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kuma does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sakumichi is pressing down on Kuma's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kuma is holding on for now.

Kuma is not content to let Sakumichi control the position.
Sakumichi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sakumichi cracks Kuma with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Poor strikes thrown by Sakumichi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Kuma takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Kuma is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kuma avoids a series of strikes thrown by Sakumichi.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee warns Kuma that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

It looks like Rila Kuma has been cut.
Sakumichi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kuma on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
