The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers slaps away a takedown attempt from Nichols, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Myers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nichols takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
No joy there for Myers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Myers tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nichols counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nichols.
Nichols drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nichols effectively controlling the action here.
Nichols is trying to drag Myers to the mat but Myers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Nichols. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nichols breaks the clinch.
Myers is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Nichols like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Nichols from another fist facial!
