PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Rampage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donny Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rampage is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Rampage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donny Darko!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rampage is breathing heavily.
Darko connects with a body shot.
Rampage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darko.
Sloppy strikes from Rampage. Those never looked like landing.

Darko has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rampage uses from the top position.

Darko throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rampage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darko.
Rampage leaves Darko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Darko ducks under a wild hook from Rampage.
Darko pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Darko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rampage stands and steps away. Darko gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Darko trying to control the action but Rampage is working from the bottom.
Rampage is looking to get back to his feet here but Darko is keeping cool and he's managed to take Rampage's back.
Rampage tries to break free.
Rampage wants to control his opponent's hands but Darko gets his hands free.
Darko is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Rampage up.
Rampage turns into Darko and is now in his guard.

Darko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rampage defends well.

Rampage would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Darko keeping moving, preventing Rampage from controlling successfully.

Let's hope that Darko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Donny Darko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Darko misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Darko shoots in for a takedown but Rampage shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rampage on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rampage tries to get out of the position.
Well, if Darko is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Donny Darko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Darko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
