PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Fresh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fresh's waist but Fresh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Fresh fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Silva moves out of range of the body kick.
Fresh misses with a right hand

and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Silva stopping the sweep attempt from Fresh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fresh keeping full guard, as Silva tries to pass.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fresh has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Silva has passed into side control.
Fresh is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Fresh is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it.
Fresh is trying to buck Silva off.

Silva is trying to get an arm triangle but Fresh is defending well.

Fresh is trying to work for a sweep but Silva has mounted him!

Silva looking for a guillotine from mount but Fresh is having none of it.
Fresh tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.

Silva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Silva prevents Fresh from getting the reversal.

Silva with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Silva thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Silva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Fresh is desperately trying to improve his position but Silva has a good base and remains in mount.

Fresh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Fresh can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Silva avoids the attempt from Fresh to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fresh working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wanderlei Silva dominated that round.
That's time! Fresh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Fresh leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fresh lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Fresh throws a lazy uppercut
and Silva counters with a nice kick to the body.

and Silva counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fresh thinking.

Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fresh is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Fresh circles away and we're back to standing.
Vlad Fresh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Silva.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Fresh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fresh throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Fresh missing with a left hand there. Silva was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Fresh swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Fresh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fresh wants it to stay on the feet.
Silva slips a jab and a cross from Fresh.
Fresh swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Fresh moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Fresh turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Fresh misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fresh tries a head kick but it misses.
Fresh misses with an uppercut.
Vlad Fresh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fresh throws out a loose jab but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fresh misses with a head kick.
Fresh darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fresh throws a leg kick which misses Silva's front leg but catches the back leg as Silva tries to avoid it.
Fresh tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Fresh.
Fresh throws a looping overhand right but Silva ducks down to avoid it.
Fresh tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Silva is able to avoid easily.
Silva slips a straight right by Fresh.
Fresh throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Fresh smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Fresh throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Fresh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva blocks the body kick.
Silva on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Fresh. Fresh obviously looking to wear him down.
Fresh just misses with a punch to the body.
Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fresh.
Fresh fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Silva defending well as Fresh loads up on a big left hand.
Fresh misses with a double jab.
Fresh throws a hook but Silva avoids it easily.
Silva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fresh throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.

and Silva counters with a series of strikes. Fresh will be more careful next time no doubt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fresh clobbers Silva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Silva checks a low kick from Fresh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Fresh throws a one two combo.
Fresh misses with a right hand
and Fresh takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fresh throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fresh!
Silva connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Silva working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Fresh turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Silva off and cradles Fresh's limp body as Silva celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Wanderlei Silva!
