Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liam Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauer Zajzon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rood keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rood tries for a takedown but Zajzon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rood doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Zajzon counters with a series of strikes. Rood will be more careful next time no doubt.
Zajzon shoots in and gets a takedown into Rood's guard.
Zajzon postures up in Rood's guard and throws a big left but Rood blocks it.

Zajzon wants to control from the top but Rood keeps moving.

Zajzon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rood is looking to stand back up but Zajzon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Rood.

Zajzon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rood does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are battling for position here. Rood manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Zajzon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zajzon won't allow Rood to get back to his feet.
Rood is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rood is breathing heavily.
Zajzon tries to free his leg and advance position but Rood is retaining full guard.
Zajzon wants to control from the top but Rood keeps moving.
Zajzon postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Zajzon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Zajzon looks up at the clock and then as Rood takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Zajzon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Zajzon is looking to take a break and control but Rood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Zajzon loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rood scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Zajzon land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Zajzon stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mauer Zajzon!
Mauer Zajzon was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
