PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Axel James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Cadge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cadge's choice of entrance music: Jaws of Life. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Axel James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Cadge!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a wild body kick that Cadge sees coming a mile off.
Cadge does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Cadge looks to clinch

and James counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
James is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Cadge has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics James uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BOOM! Cadge connects with a massive shot to the dome!
James is in all sorts of trouble here.

Nathan Cadge dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Cadge shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cadge showed some decent athleticism there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cadge connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.
James tries to get to full guard but Cadge has control of the leg.
James is trying to control but can't.
Nathan Cadge has got the better of the ground game so far.
James is not content to let Cadge control the position.
Cadge working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
James is looking to control Cadge's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?

James is in trouble now - Cadge has advanced to mount!

James is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Cadge is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But James has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from James!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nathan Cadge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

James gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Cadge bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cadge does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

James blocks the strikes from Cadge.
James is trying to control the action in half guard but Cadge is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
James is really struggling to control Cadge but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Axel James has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

James wants to clinch up but Cadge keeps it at a distance.
Cadge bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Cadge is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

James is pressed up against the cage. Cadge has hold of a leg and is looking to drag James down to the mat. James avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cadge goes for a takedown attempt but James pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
James shoots in for a takedown but Cadge shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cadge takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James clinches up with Cadge and pushes him back against the cage.
James just leaning against Cadge, taking a breather.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cadge is trying to break the clinch but James is controlling him.
Cadge tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Axel James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nathan Cadge is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
James works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

I think Cadge has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
