Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick O Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sun Shing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick O Sullivan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sun Shing's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patrick O Sullivan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sun Shing! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shing keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. O Sullivan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shing. Shing closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming O Sullivan to the mat! O Sullivan manages to get full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Shing looking to control the position here, rather than advance. O Sullivan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Shing is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Shing really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Sullivan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. O Sullivan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shing is aware though and is defending well. Shing engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sun Shing has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Shing closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. O Sullivan did well to prevent Shing getting side control. Shing trying to control the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. O Sullivan pushes Shing off looking to stand but Shing dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Shing seems content to control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. O Sullivan wants to get back to his feet. Shing slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sun Shing. O Sullivan with a jab. Some wild striking there from Shing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shing shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. O Sullivan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. O Sullivan tries to land a sweep but no joy. O Sullivan is breathing heavily. Shing seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. O Sullivan wants to stand and escape but Shing is having none of it. Shing passes O Sullivan's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Shing stops O Sullivan from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. O Sullivan looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sun Shing wasn't active enough on the ground. O Sullivan dips to his left and cracks Shing with an uppercut! Shing tries to clinch up. Patrick O Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shing has closed the distance and engaged O Sullivan in a clinch.
Shing wants the takedown. O Sullivan is fighting it off but Shing persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in O Sullivan's guard against the cage. Shing slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shing stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. O Sullivan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. O Sullivan is looking to stand up but Shing isn't so interested in that idea. Shing trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Shing not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. O Sullivan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shing defends well. Shing controls the pace of the fight for a moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Sun Shing was stalling too much, according to the referee. Shing dodges the punch combination from O Sullivan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sun Shing dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from O Sullivan enables Shing to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. O Sullivan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Shing controls from within his opponent's guard. Shing trying to control but O Sullivan is working from the bottom. O Sullivan pushes a forearm under Shing's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Shing is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
