PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Nagiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karel Gil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nagiev comes to the cage accompanied by Dmitry Nagiev - All I Promised. Gil is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Papa Roach - Last Resort. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dmitry Nagiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Karel Gil!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gil takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
No luck for Gil with that takedown attempt.
Gil looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nagiev is fending him off so far but Gil persists. Nope, Nagiev circles away and we're back to standing.
Gil changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nagiev tries to avoid it but Gil manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nagiev to the ground. Nagiev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dmitry Nagiev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karel Gil.
Gil closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nagiev circles away.

Gil shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nagiev napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gil shoots in looking for a takedown. Nagiev tries to sprawl out of it but Gil keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nagiev manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gil fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nagiev avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gil manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nagiev on his heels. He'll look to pass Nagiev's guard now, I'm sure.

Nagiev does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Nagiev stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nagiev wants it to stay on the feet.
Gil throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nagiev's waist but Nagiev gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gil off to one side.

and Nagiev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
