The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson blocks a head kick by Desormeaux.

Desormeaux scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Desormeaux wants to advance to full mount but Johnson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Desormeaux stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Desormeaux is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johnson's half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Adelard Desormeaux hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Johnson tries to sprawl but Desormeaux drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Desormeaux decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Desormeaux throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.

Desormeaux gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Desormeaux escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Johnson has gone for a leg lock! Desormeaux slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johnson's guard.

Desormeaux decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Desormeaux looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson misses with an uppercut. Desormeaux saw that one coming.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Desormeaux manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Desormeaux connects with a nice looking jab.

No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt.
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Desormeaux darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Johnson's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Desormeaux before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
